The Epic Solar Eclipse In Totality On A Backcountry Spring Canoe Trip
This is the first canoe trip of the season for me in 2024. The ice had just come off and all I had heard about on the news was the total solar eclipse that would cover parts of Ontario in darkness. At the last minute, after seeing that Frontenac provincial park laid within the path of totality, I decided that my first real canoe trip of the season would be me chasing the total eclipse of 2024. What a trip it would be!
At the time, I had no idea what I was doing, or how I would capture the eclipse, but I could not be happier or more excited to have been witness to such an incredible experience! During the eclipse, the clouds parted just enough to get some shots that I think really show the awesome beauty of this extraordinary event.
I sincerely loved this trip and could not be more happy to share this experience with you. What an incredible start to the paddling season! This is going to be an awesome year on the water.

Lost In The Woods - A Canoeing Story in Canada's Remote Boreal Forest --- Rare Wolverine Sighting
Переглядів 630 тис.3 місяці тому
I don’t know if I’ll ever have another trip quite like this one. Nearly having a moose swim into the side of my canoe, just minutes before having a wolverine run along the shore beside me! These are just a couple of the highlights from this incredible trip through Canada’s Boreal Forest in northern Ontario. In the summer of 2023 I (Keenan) and my trusty travel companion Betty-Lou planned a trip...
The Untamed Yukon: Epic Canoe Journey Down the Wild Yukon River

If ever there was a river that captured the imagination of paddlers and explorers all over the world, it would probably be the Yukon River. This 700 kilometre route, from Whitehorse to Dawson City, is arguably a bucket list canoe trip for every canoeist. In the summer of 2023, Ashley and I (Keenan) would paddle this route, fishing, exploring and camping along the way. This river is like a livin...
Classic Canadian Canoe trip + INCREDIBLE CLOSE ENCOUNTER with a Moose - Quetico Provincial Park
Переглядів 76 тис.5 місяців тому
If ever there was a place that represented a quintessential Canadian canoe trip, Quetico would be it. In northwestern Ontario, bordering the Boundary Waters in the US, Quetico is one of the world’s premier canoeing destinations. With dark, clean water, unbelievable fishing and camping there’s hardly anywhere else I’d rather visit. In the early summer of 2023 I decided to make the journey to Que...
Lost In The Yukon - Epic Canoe Trip Down Remote Big Salmon River In The Yukon Territory

In the summer of 2023, Ashley and I (Keenan) drove to the Yukon for a summer of adventure and to canoe down the Big Salmon River. We would end up traveling hundreds of kilometres through the wilderness, winding our way through the mountains. We would have some amazing wildlife encounters, small rapids to run, log jams to overcome and storms to weather but it was the trip of a lifetime. We have ...
Wabakimi and the Kopka River - Canadian Wilderness Camping and Canoe Trip

At the end of summer in 2023 I (Keenan) decided to head up to one of my favourite places to canoe and explore the wilderness in the Wabakimi area. In particular, I wanted to canoe the Kopka River, famous for its awe inspiring waterfalls and extremely rugged portages. All I will say is that this route is absolutely amazing. With pictographs, wildlife, rapids and huge dramatic waterfalls, I was i...
Moose Magic: Algonquin Canoe Trip with an Unforgettable Campsite Visitor!

For what seems like years now, Ive been trying (unsuccessfully) to plan a trip through the headwaters of the Nipissing river. Finally, as the summer of 2023 wrapped up, I was able to make this trip happen. This would be a short trip of just 4 days, but it was incredibly fun to head back to Algonquin Park for yet another canoe trip through this amazing place. Although it was a short trip, paddli...

It would see us paddle though rain, wind, and fog. In addition, we would have to drag our canoes throu...

Good morning Keenan and Ashley. Hope all is well still. You love fishing. This trip is it the flow of the river that makes it too difficult, the fishing season and restrictions. Curious, I would think there would be so awesome fishing. Thank you, Terry ❤❤

Everything about this video is awesome! The scenery, the fishing the "behind the scenes" type of filming showing the cabin, cooking, and daily life instead of just highlighting a couple monster fish was perfect. I enjoyed every minute of it. I see you wearing jackets/rain gear and hoodies a lot. I also liked your life jackets with a little storage on them. What time of year was this trip? Average temps? Water temp? I've never done a fly in trip and definitely want to, more for pike, but I definitely wouldn't be disappointed at catching lake trout like that!! Even your dog had a great time. Again, great video!

this is better than most documentaries, i mean national geographic might have you but, do they?? considering financing and the crew behind it, in my eyes you got them!! its absolutely incredible that you are by yourself, your filming skills, beautifully edited, saturated color for each scene and attention to detail on those close up shots is incredible under the circumstances(on a boat in the wild alone for example), i cant say ive seen better from anyone solo doing backcountry footage like this and i watch them all, lost lakes probably my 2nd favorite after your work for editing and quality of footage.. awesome he commented - cheers! subscribed

@@CanoeTheNorth utmost respect when someone wholeheartedly put all they had into something they love, that's rare these days - i'm on my second watch and the camera panning work is insanity.. you couldn't catch all the work that went into this in one view but ill continue to re-watch this and appreciate each frame, keep making content like this and you'll make a hell of a life and living out of it, mark my words there.. from a fellow ontarian, can't wait to get out there myself with my wife backcountry camping, and my kids once they are old enough for that type of thing - we have 5 boys from 2-8 and a 4 month old baby girl so we are busy but this is what we dream of.. we try to go to driftwood provincial park a few times a year with the whole squad but it can be hectic with the age group.. this is on another level but we are building up to it, wicked memories to be had in the north.. again cheers & exceptional job

The only time I’ve seen eagles chasing ravens or crows is during nesting when the crows will eagles on the nest. When the crows get too close it gets nasty. I’ve watched an eagle chase down a crow and kill it in flight. That big bird has some acrobatic moves when required. Thanks for the alternative eclipse experience. "Portage or portaging is the practice of carrying water craft or cargo over land, either around an obstacle in a river, or between two bodies of water. The term comes from French, where porter means "to carry", as in "portable"."
